STHRM, Inc Resolves North Ohio Plastics Manufacturer’s Human Resources Issues

Challenge

The client is a privately held plastic products manufacturer. The challenge arose from an under-performing organization with unfocused executive and operational leadership team.

Solution

STHRM, Inc. was hired in the capacity of an interim director of human resources.

Accomplishments

  • Removed sixty-five (65) illegal aliens that were ineligible to work in the United States.

  • Worked with outside legal counsel to minimize DHS penalty to $1,200.

  • Developed staffing strategy to hire new employees eligible to work in the United States.

  • Investigated and wrote responses to three (3) alleged charges of race, age and disability discrimination and filed them with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission. The commission dismissed all three charges as non-probable cause.

  • Coached and counseled client’s President and Chief Executive Officer on how to handle various organizational and human resource issues.

  • Investigated and made application to Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Individual Retrospective Group Rating with estimated cost savings of $235,000.

  • Wrote new attendance policy.

  • Recommended trustee changes to 401(k) plan.

  • Investigated and proposed changes to twelve-hour schedule to minimize overtime hours.

  • Developed on-site vocational rehabilitation to minimize BWC lost-time issues.
