Director of Business Development
The client company is seeking a Director of Business Development based out of its corporate headquarters in Summit County, Ohio. The company is a growing environmental consulting firm and laboratory that helps public and private sector entities monitor and manage water and natural resource issues.
The Director of Business Development role involves the creation of long-term valued business relationships for the client company from both existing and new customer’s senior leadership and industry influencers within its geographic territory. The Director of Business Development builds bridges and connects to people who can help solve problems.
Solicit and develop new business opportunities through direct calling efforts, referral sources, industry trade shows and conferences, and meetings as well as any other appropriate means.
Visit existing and former customers periodically to reaffirm satisfaction and identify new and expanding opportunities for deeper client engagement.
Develop new business plans for existing and potential customers.
Respond to new business development leads promptly and ensure technical staff do the same.
Responsible for identifying prospects and coordinating and collaborating with environmental and engineering professionals within the client company to help close a sale.
Bring new ideas and improve the new business development sales process.
Work with the team to shorten the sales cycle and move deals through the pipeline.
Keep accurate records of calls, meetings and other activities (call reports) in CRM.
Maintain an up-to-date pipeline of new business opportunities.
Assist with preparing proposals, quotes, and customer contracts.
Coordinate the on-boarding of new accounts with the technical staff.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of all services offered.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Experience and Skills
The Director of Business Development required five years of business development experience within the environmental and engineering service industry and a Bachelors’ or Master’s Degree in science, engineering or business. Proven sales experience with a history of sustainable growth. Success in gaining access to and influencing customer’s senior leadership and industry influencers. Persuasive interpersonal communication and people skills to provide solutions to various sales questions. Able to coordinate and collaborate with environmental and engineering professionals within the client company to meet client demands and business relationship partner requirements. Demonstrated leadership ability to drive results and meet client company objectives. Must have a valid driver license.
