Electronic Engineering Technician

Summary:

Assist engineers with assigned duties including documentation, Bills of Material (BOM) creation, lay out, build prototype, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental of medical, aerospace, and industrial devices.  Conduct, as directed, test and data collection activities on equipment and component systems.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Read and review technical documents prior to starting work assignment.
  • Assemble, test, or maintain circuitry or electronic components, according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, or knowledge of electronics, using hand or power tools.
  • Build prototypes from rough sketches or plans.
  • Test electronics units, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine the need for adjustment.
  • Adjust or replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry or electronics components, using hand tools or soldering iron.
  • Assemble, test, or maintain circuitry or electronic components, according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, or knowledge of electronics, using hand or power tools.
  • Adjust or replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry or electronics components, using hand tools or soldering iron.
  • Conducts various performance tests in accordance with test criteria established by customer and engineering requirements and procedures and/or written test plans; maintains and reports accurate records of test results.
  • Perform preventative maintenance or calibration of equipment or systems.
  • Maintain system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment.
  • Confer with the engineer to resolve design or operational problems.
  • Resolve operational performance problems.
  • Test performance of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or integrated systems or equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment with performing calibration routines, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, as needed or required according to set schedules and update logs.Follow FDA cGMP & ISO 13485 for class II and III complex medical devices.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • At times assist Manufacturing and Quality Departments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND/OR ABILITY REQUIRED

Associate Degree, a vocational school in electrical engineering or 5 years’ related work experience.  Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, hardware, and firmware.  Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.  Apply electrical engineering principles, techniques, and procedures to test prototypes devices and equipment to the design. Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to solve problems.
